Wink, Wink

Avery has learned to wink, in a toddler kind-of a way... that is, blink with both eyes. She recognizes when someone is winking at her and gives her best attempt at winking back. Then it actually becomes a game taking turns winking at each other. Ashlyn learned this same way when she was about the same age as Avery and actually still winks with both eyes. It is a cute exchange she does with her dad often while at the dinner table or across the room; just one way Chris shows her his love and makes her feel special.

Another subtle way Chris shows his girls, and me, affection is by putting his finger gently in our ear and giving a little tickle. This is a little trick taught to him by his grandad. He observed his grandad doing this to his grandmom many times when he was growing up! It always makes the girls giggle and squirm.

Avery also started calling me "mommy" yesterday, rather than "mama"! Oh boy is she growing up! I officially no longer have a baby; she's now a little girl. She wants to do all the big girl things her sister does. I can't believe she will be 2 next month. She amazes us everyday with all that she is learning, how she is becoming a chatterbox, and how she seems to be growing like a weed. She also amazes us with her firecracker attitude! She is fairly reserved until she doesn't get her way. Then, you better stand back because she will let you know she is unhappy... well mad... well down-right pissed! She demonstrates this will a certain look on her face, the high-pitched squeal, and the flailing of her arms. Even then, she is so darn cute!
